Rob Zombie's "Halloween" Coming to DVD for Christmas

Genius Entertainment will release Rob Zombie's Halloween, a remake of the 1978 John Carpenter classic, in separate rated and unrated two-disc special editions on December 18th, 2007. The rated disc will feature the film as it played in the theaters and buyers will have a choice between widescreen and fullscreen. The widescreen-only unrated version, which features 11 minutes of additional footage, is being touted as Zombie's director's cut. Features for all editions include:

Rob Zombie's Halloween remake hasn't been out a full week, but the director is already talking about the DVD. He confirmed to Fangoria.com that there will be a full-length documentary similar to the 30 Days in Hell feature found on the Devil's Rejects disc. "We shot one the same way," Zombie said.

Rob Zombie's "Halloween" Breaks Labor Day Box Office Record

Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween (read our review) took the record for highest gross over the four-day Labor Day weekend, pulling in an estimated $31 million. The previous record was held by Transporter 2 in 2005 with just $20.1 million. Additionally, Halloween's three-day take of $26.5 million is the largest opening for a horror/suspense-thriller this year, beating 1408 and Disturbia.

Rob Zombie Signs Two-Picture Deal with Dimension

Days before the release of Rob Zombie's newest film, Halloween, the director and rocker has signed a deal with Dimension Films under which he will write and direct two features for the studio. His manager and producing partner Andy Gould will produce both films. No details are available yet as to what those films may be or if they will even be horror. Zombie said the deal is a "natural step in the evolution of my film career."

Zombie's Halloween, a remake of John Carpenter's seminal slasher film, will open this Friday, August 31st.

Whether you're into Rob Zombie or his highly hyped new film, The Devil's Rejects, or both the man and the movie, you're going to want to check out this very interesting method that Lion's Gate Films has set up in an effort to get their directors to speak a little more personally with fans than a mere press release: an online journal. It seems everyone in Internetville is getting one these days, but hey, when Rob Zombie gets one, I've no reason to complain!

The Devil's Rejects is a film that I am greatly anticipating, and now, people like me have even more of a reason to water at the mouth while awaiting this sequel to House of 1000 Corpses. You see, an update of the official website of the film has graced the web. Actually, this could probably be regarded as more of an overhaul than just a mere update, as the site has been given an entire new layout and a few new features.

Lions Gate Films are pretty much single-handedly keeping the genre of horror… real horror alive. In fact, it's hard to find a horror film these days that isn't being released by Lions Gate. The trailer for Rob Zombie's second cinema outing, The Devil's Rejects, has recently surfaced on the web, and holy crud it looks good. The film is a sequel to Zombie's debut film, House of 1000 Corpses, though Zombie has said himself that the film is going to have an entirely different hauntingly realistic premise and tone, whereas 1000 Corpses was more campy and humorous.
