Doomsday Online Game

In keeping with my editorial on balancing a love of the classics with an enthusiasm with future genre offerings, I thought I'd point out that Doomsday, the new apocalyptic thriller from Dog Soldiers and The Descent director Neil Marshall, coming out on March 14th. To promote the release, Universal has posted "Doomsday - Marauder Massacre", an online video game. You take the role of a commando in a shooting gallery style action game that's insanely difficult.

"Castlevania" on the Big Screen

Director Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard) has signed a seven-figure deal to direct a big-screen adaptation of the popular video game series Castlevania. The film was originally under development with Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil, AVP: Alien vs. Predator) attached to write and direct. Anderson will instead direct a remake of Death Race 2000, but he remains attached as the writer. He and White are expected to rewrite the script together. White grew up playing the Castlevania series.

So a new Evil Dead game has been announced. That makes this the third time Ash (from the housewares section of S-Mart) will fight a horde of Deadites. When I first saw the news, I thought, "Oh, that's pretty cool." Romero Talks About "Land of the Dead" and Zombie Video Game

The website known as Dark Universe has posted an interview with George Romero, as interrogated by gaming magazine Edge. In it, Romero says some interesting things about the new video game City of the Dead, which is based in his zombie universe, and talks briefly about his new film, the 4th in the Living Dead series, Land of the Dead. The interview is definitely worth a read if you even remotely like zombies, but then again, I didn't need to tell you that.
