Speaking at Film Four's FrightFest in London, director Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers) revealed that he would not be directing a sequel to his film The Descent, Fangoria.com reports. Instead, The Descent 2 would mark the directorial debut of the original film's editor, Jon Harris. Marshall said that although he will not be taking the director's chair this go-around, he would be involved in every aspect of the production. One assumes this also means the script, which has not yet been written.

Marshall also showed a newly reedited trailer for his upcoming film Doomsday, which featured footage not seen at his panel at the San Diego Comic-Con this past July. The new clips contain gore and beheadings, so it's not clear whether these are segments that have been filmed since Comic-Con or whether they were excised to meet SDCC's "keep it family-friendly" content guidelines.
