Jeffrey Combs Interview

Jeffrey Combs newsreel picture

You probably know Jeffrey Combs best for his role as mad scientist Herbert West in Stuart Gordon's cult classic Re-Animator, but the actor has brought so many more great performances to the genre. In July, at San Diego Comic-Con International, he sat down with us to rap about his latest -- reprising the part of Dr. Vannacutt from 1999's House on Haunted Hill for a new, direct-to-video sequel Return to House on Haunted Hill, being released on October 16th, 2007.

Classic-Horror.com: Tell us a little bit about your character [in Return to House on Haunted Hill]. We saw him in the first film…

Jeffrey Combs: Vannacutt is back… Vannacutt is a scientist from the 20s. We do find out in this one that at one point, he wasn’t such a bad guy. Brilliant scientist, Nobel Prize winner, and then something went terribly dark.

Robert Englund Interview

Robert Englund

Robert Englund is one of the legends of modern horror. The name "Freddy Krueger" is all the introduction he really needs, but his contributions to the genre extend far beyond that, not only as an actor, but as an enthusiast. We caught up with him at San Diego Comic-Con International while he was promoting Adam Green's upcoming slasher film Hatchet, in which he has a small role.

"Hatchet" Director Adam Green Interview

Adam Green newsreel pic

Director Adam Green's Hatchet is making waves in the horror community more for what it isn't than what it is: it's not a remake, it's not a sequel, and it's not PG-13. It's an honest-to-gosh R-rated slasher movie, starring honest-to-gosh horror icons Kane Hodder, Robert Englund, and Tony Todd, about a group of tourists who run afoul of  Victor Crowley (Hodder), a deformed killer who haunts the bayous of Louisiana. The film's fans have built the "Hatchet Army" to show their support for fresh material on the silver scream. Television star Milo Ventimiglia could be seen in a Hatchet Army t-shirt during the "Heroes" panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and after witnessing the Hatchet panel (check out Julia's full report) at the same convention, I'm ready to get a shirt for myself.(read more...)

Ken Foree broke onto the horror scene in 1978 with George A. Romero's classic Dawn of the Dead. Since then, he's kept pretty close ties with the genre, including a part in Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects. "Cry Wolf" (Cast and Crew) Interview

cry_wolf

Children shouldn't tell lies, and big teenaged children shouldn't make up stories about people dying. Such are the lessons in the upcoming horror-thriller Cry Wolf. Classic-Horror sat down with the cast and crew during San Diego Comic-Con International 2005. In attendance were co-writer/director Jeff Wadlow, co-writer/producer Beau Bauman, and actors Lindy Booth (Dodger), Julian Morris (Owen), Sandra McCoy (Mercedes), and Kristy Wu (Regina).(read more...)

A "Totally" Cool Chat with PJ Soles

PJ Soles

You know her voice instantly, especially when she says "Totally!" PJ Soles made her mark in two of the best horror films of the late 1970s, Brian de Palma's Carrie and John Carpenter's Halloween. She took some time out of her busy schedule to chat with our very own Jenn Dlugos about those films and her experience with Rob Zombie while filming a part in The Devil's Rejects.(read more...)

Cheri Montesanto-Medcalf Interview

Cheri Montesanto-Medcalf

The winner of three Emmys for her makeup work on "The X-Files," Cheri Montesanto-Medcalf was on the fast track for success at an early age. At age 17, while still in high school, she was the department head for makeup on the movie Fear No Evil. Now, she is one of the most sought after makeup artists in the business. I got the chance to interview this perfectly lovely woman, and she gave the people of Classic-Horror a wonderfully insightful behind-the-scenes glimpse of "The X-Files."

Classic-Horror: Hi Cher! Are you ready to do the interview?

Cheri Montesanto-Medcalf: Sure!

C-H: Thank you so much for doing this.
