In Return of the Living Dead and Return of the Living Dead Part II, the gas known as 2-4-5 Trioxin turned humans into zombies and made the dead rise from their graves hungry for fresh brains. In the third entry, Col. Reynolds (Kent McCord) and a group of scientists are conducting experiments on making the dead weapons for war. His son Curt (J. Trevor Edmund, Pumpkinhead 2: Blood Wings) and girlfriend Julie (Melinda Clarke, Killer Tongue) use his Dad's security pass to get into the facility and watch one of the secret experiments. Those grotesque brain eating zombies are back from the dead… again. This time the barrels that contain the dead and toxic gas known as 2-4-5 Trioxin drop off of a transport van and land close to a nearby cemetery located near a new housing development. Two bully kids from the neighborhood unleash the toxic gas and it pours across the cemetery, resurrecting the dead and turning them into brain-hungry ghouls. It is Freddy's (Thom Mathews, Friday the 13th 6: Jason Lives) first day on the job at the Uneeda medical supply warehouse in Louisville Kentucky. While down in the underground room with Uncle Frank (James Karen, Muholland Drive), they unintentionally set free a nerve gas from these military canisters accidentally shipped to the warehouse years ago. Little do they know that this gas called The 2-4-5 Trioxin has the influence to revive the dead, turning them into swift running, brain famished ghouls. To the benefit of the deadly gas, next door to the supply warehouse is a cemetery. And within the graveyard is a partying group of punk rockers and preps, along with Freddy's non-cursing, goody two-shoes girlfriend Tina.(read more...)

Farmer Vincent (Rory Calhoun, Hell Comes to Frogtown) and his sister Ida (Nancy Parsons, the Porky's series) have had the best meat in their little rough country town for nearly thirty years now. They have an extra special ingredient that comes from their secret garden behind the motel. After a deadly accident, Terry (Nina Axelrod, Critters 3) wakes up at their motel to learn that her biker boyfriend has died and was buried by Farmer Vincent in the wee hours that morning. It seems the town has a rule where dead folk can be buried without any questions necessary. This story in the Ring franchise takes place thirty years earlier to the story of the first film. An adolescent Sadako has just enrolled in a theater ensemble in Tokyo. Most of the others in the troupe are either terrified of Sadako or just plain hate her. They all begin having the same dreams from the moment she arrives at the school. A reporter named Miyaji is on the track of Sadako to find out whether or not she is in fact competent of the same acts of murder that her extrasensory mother had been accused of 11 years ago. As the days go by, mysterious murders unfold at the theater, but Sadako appears to just be a troubled and innocent teen this time around.(read more...)

Yan (Karena Lam) is always moving from place to place. She is trying to run away from these horrifying visions of ghosts and the supernatural that plague her eyes. She locates to a new apartment building, but even then is haunted by inhabitants with a gloomy past; they have importance to her new place. Forced by a relative, she unenthusiastically goes to see a psychiatrist named Jim Law (Leslie Cheung). Jim discovers that Yan has had a difficult past with relationships and a rough family life; he thinks this is the source of all of her problems and haunting visions. After he teaches Yan how to face and get rid of her inner demons, Jim in fact has a frightening past coming back to break into his life. During the dawn of a new millennium, Japan is in the state of near collapse. Unemployment has hit an all time high, and the youth is chaotic and out of control. Children in school completely boycott learning and commit physical damage upon their superiors. So, the government has come up with a plan called the Battle Royale Act. This act is overseen by a former teacher named Katano ('Beat' Takeshi), who is sick and tired of teenagers mocking adults. A random class of forty-two students is sent to a desolate island and forced to fight to the death. All of the students are given a weapon, whether it benefits them or not is completely random. Some are lucky and some aren't. There is a three-day limit on the so-called game, and the main rule is only one student can be left alive.(read more...)
