I'm trying something new this week that will hopefully become a regular feature. Too often I read some really interesting blog post or news snippet and think to myself, "Gosh, the readers at Classic-Horror would dig this," only to be waylaid by the follow-up, "Yeah, but think of all the text regurgitation you'll have to do just to make it a proper news story." The actual news copy is the part I struggle with the most, so instead, I'm doing a weekly round-up of links to posts that I find noteworthy.(read more...)

Variety is reporting that Rob Zombie will return to write and direct the sequel to his 2007 remake of Halloween, titled H2. This confirms a report made by ShockTillYouDrop.com earlier this month. Although Zombie had stated in the past that he had no interest in a sequel, he has apparently changed his mind, stating, "I was so burned out. [But] I took a long break, made a record and I got excited again." STYD notes that Tyler Mane is set to return as Michael Myers, but otherwise no casting is in place.(read more...)

Rob Zombie's Halloween remake hasn't been out a full week, but the director is already talking about the DVD. He confirmed to Fangoria.com that there will be a full-length documentary similar to the 30 Days in Hell feature found on the Devil's Rejects disc. Days before the release of Rob Zombie's newest film, Halloween, the director and rocker has signed a deal with Dimension Films under which he will write and direct two features for the studio.  His manager and producing partner Andy Gould will produce both films. No details are available yet as to what those films may be or if they will even be horror. Zombie said the deal is a "natural step in the evolution of my film career."

Zombie's Halloween, a remake of John Carpenter's seminal slasher film, will open this Friday, August 31st.

Whether you're into Rob Zombie or his highly hyped new film, The Devil's Rejects, or both the man and the movie, you're going to want to check out this very interesting method that Lion's Gate Films has set up in an effort to get their directors to speak a little more personally with fans than a mere press release: an online journal. The trailer for Rob Zombie's second cinema outing, The Devil's Rejects, has recently surfaced on the web, and holy crud it looks good. The film is a sequel to Zombie's debut film, House of 1000 Corpses, though Zombie has said himself that the film is going to have an entirely different hauntingly realistic premise and tone, whereas 1000 Corpses was more campy and humorous.(read more...)
