"Amityville" Remake Trailer Rocks

A couple days after the last edition of Haunted Newsreel, a trailer for the Amityville Horror remake found a home on the web, but it was only available for viewing on MTV.com and you could only watch it through a very new version of Windows Media Player that I did not have.(read more...)

Dead Dog Comics Keep the Horror Comin'

Dead Dog Entertainment is a company I've had my eyes on for a few months ever since I caught an ad for their Night of the Living Dead comic series in Rue Morgue magazine. Fangoria.com recently checked in with Dead Dog to see what projects they have up their sleeve, and they discovered a helluva lot of projects, all of which I have organized and summed up for your reading pleasure:

The Horror Show
This will be an anthology book of short stories based on films such as The Howling, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and a story based on The Book of the Dead created by Tom Sullivan, the man behind the special effects of the Evil Dead series.

Review: Orca: The Killer Whale (1977)

Orca: The Killer Whale poster

Orca vs. Jaws. Ok, not exactly "The Thrilla in Manila," but Orca could throw a few jabs that would stun Jaws. At least that is the way director Michael Anderson, who also directed the 1976 sci-fi classic Logan's Run, portrays this notorious killer whale. The film features Richard Harris as Captain Nolan, the ancient mariner-whaler; Charlotte Rampling as Rachel Bedford, a seductive, sagacious marine biology professor; and a young, sexy Bo Derek as one of Nolan's compliant assistants. Orca: The Killer Whale, released in 1977, assumes the mantle established by Jaws and takes it one step further. Full of surprises and cinematic bravado, Orca is not the shameless Jaws rip-off some have claimed.(read more...)

Review: It (1990)

It 1990 poster

I will admit it, I am a fan of Stephen King's movies. From the colossally horrible to the downright excellent, I seek them out, the theatrical releases and made-for-television ventures alike. I am no fool, though. Some are masterpieces, and some are stinkers. I am gleeful to report, that for the most part, It leans toward the former.(read more...)

Review: Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection Volume 6 (2004)

Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection Volume 6

Blessed be the insane minds of Best Brains, Inc., the creators of "Mystery Science Theater 3000." Taking a relatively simple concept - making fun of bad movies - and turning it into a mass distributed (well, cable-televised) artform, these Midwestern madpeople have raised a rallying cry against ridiculous editing, cardboard monsters, and the forces of 1950s Roger Corman cinema.(read more...)

Review: Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990)

Gremlins 2: The New Batch

Gremlins 2: The New Batch is to Gremlins like Halloween 3 is to Halloween, or like Freddy vs. Jason is to… er… any other Jason and Freddy movie. It’s off. Way, way off. It’s like the sequel of Citizen Kane being The Silence of the Lambs. Both are excellent movies in their own right, but not exactly shooting for the same viewer demographic. This is exactly what happened to Gremlins 2.

In order to enjoy this movie you must:(read more...)

Land of the Dead Images Online

If you're not pumped up for George Romero's 4th entry in his Living Dead series, Land of the Dead, you most certainly should be - but I'm quite sure that if you're reading this, you don't need to hear that because you're already geekily fantasizing over what the teaser trailer for the film will be like.(read more...)

"Evil Dead IV" Still a Possibility

Zap2It.com reports the following:

"When he's all finished with the Spider-Man franchise, director Sam Raimi thinks he'd like to go back to his horror roots and add to his Evil Dead series. 'I definitely want to do it and I think after -- whenever the Spider-Man jobs end -- I would love to dig in on that,' Raimi says. 'That's something I'm really looking forward to.'(read more...)

Meet Yuzna's "Rottweiler"

Lions Gate Films, the God of horror movie distributors, will be releasing the newest film directed by Brian Yuzna (director of cult classics such as Bride of Re-Animator, Return of the Living Dead III, The Dentist, and Beyond Re-Animator). The film is titled Rottweiler and according to imdb.com, this is what it's about:

{Rottweiler} follows the story of a dog who was beaten severely at a young age and has surgery, in which it's bones are replaced with metallic bones. Later, this half robotic dog comes back for a gruesome revenge…
