Carpenter's Back... Hopefully

John Carpenter is a director who's not exactly newsworthy all the time. The movies he makes are usually instant classics, but after he makes them it seems as if he goes into hiding for a long while. Well, it's been over two years since his last film, Ghosts of Mars (one of his few non-instant classics), and we've since heard some news about a couple films of his that are being remade (The Thing and The Fog), but we've heard nothing about a new Carpenter film… until now.

The word around town is that Carpenter will soon begin work on a film titled The Second Line. No details have been released as far as a plotline goes, except that it will deal with a haunted house. I know Carpenter has the brains to turn this rather cliché setting of a ghost-infested home into something remarkably original…let's hope all goes well. So, when more info becomes available on Carpenter's latest, will you be able to read it in this very column? Of course.
