"Creepshow 3" in Development
It seems as if Taurus Entertainment, the company responsible for the upcoming Day of the Dead sequel (Day of the Dead: Contagium) is developing yet another sequel to a Romero-involved film, and this time it's Creepshow. Yes, that's right-- you'll be seeing Creepshow 3 in some form in the near future. No, this third entry into the series that started as a collaboration between George Romero and Stephen King won't have anyone from the previous Creepshow films involved in it, but Anna Clavell, who is apparently "heavily involved" with the project, promises that "[Taurus Entertainment] will respect the format of the first two films." The distribution methods for this film are unclear as of now, as it has been designed for all formats, but you can most likely count on the distributors to choose direct-to-video as the fate for this film. For some reason, I just don't see Creepshow 3 getting a theatrical release.
Being a huge fan of the original Creepshow (it's one of my favorite films of all-time), I'm probably supposed to be proclaiming how much blasphemy it is to take a wonderful film and try to develop a sequel for it without any involvement from Romero or King, but something about this news bit excites me. It was the same case for Day of the Dead: Contagium -- something about the idea of the film have just installed faith inside me that it won't be that bad. Time will tell, I suppose.
Expect another announcement on the status of Creepshow 3 to be made in mid-February.
