Seventy-five years ago, Japanese production company Toho Company Ltd. started its life near the Hankyu Railway. Originally named Tokyo-Takarazuka Theater Company, it would grow to be the largest film production studio in Japan. For sci-fi/horror fans, they are perhaps most famous for their kaiju ("strange beast") films, most of them featuring the radioactive dinosaur Godzilla. They also produced Masaki Kobayashi's horror anthology Kwaidan (1964).(read more...)

BBC Miniseries "Jekyll" on DVD

Jekyll DVD

BBC Video told ShockTillYouDrop.com that the horror miniseries Jekyll will be released to DVD in America on September 18th. The two-disc set will contain over five hours worth of bonus material, including featurettes and a commentary track. Suggested retail price will be $29.98.

However, the two have agreed to a compromise -- they have a kind of time-share on Jackman's body and Hyde's actions are rigorously monitored with the latest in high-tech surveillance equipment. Hatchet Poster (Final)

I've said it before, but it needs to be said again -- while the recent spate of remakes and sequels is not necessarily a bad thing, it has become a little overkill. That's why we're looking forward to Hatchet, Adam Green's R-rated slasher film, which promises good, old-fashioned thrills and chills, plus some improvements on some of the less appealing aspects of the slasher. How can you support Green's ambitious project? Two ways.(read more...)
