Rob Zombie Discusses "Halloween" DVD

Rob Zombie's Halloween remake hasn't been out a full week, but the director is already talking about the DVD. He confirmed to Fangoria.com that there will be a full-length documentary similar to the 30 Days in Hell feature found on the Devil's Rejects disc. Genius Products and The Weinstein Company have sent us the full specifications for the two-disc special edition of Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof, coming out September 18th, 2007. Death Proof, the second half of the retro double feature Grindhouse, follows a creepy stunt driver whose taste for stalking lovely young ladies gets him into big trouble when he tangles with the wrong gang of badass babes. Their confrontation escalates to an extended mano-a-mano car chase with one of the girls strapped to the hood of a thundering Dodge Challenger.

Warner Bros. to Distribute "Fallen Angels"

Writer-director Jeff Thomas sent us the news that Warner Bros. has picked up his film Fallen Angels for theatrical and home video distribution in the United States via its Polychrome Pictures subdivision. In the film, the demolition of a turn of the century prison grinds to a halt when a 100 year old crime scene is discovered. Hidden deep underground is a chamber filled with the remains of several brutally slain children. As a CSI team arrives at the prison, an even more disturbing discovery is made that will eventually unveil a legion of seven demons and their even more chilling origins: each demon is responsible for one of the seven deadly sins.(read more...)

Sony Pictures showed Fangoria.com the cover art for the October 23rd DVD release of Eli Roth's Hostel: Part II. The disc will contain the full, unrated cut of the film. Additionally, it will include the following features:

  • Commentary by Eli Roth
  • Commentary by Roth, executive producer Quentin Tarantino, and Gabriel Roth
  • Commentary by Roth and actors Lauren German, Richard Burgi, and Vera Jordanova
  • Behind-the-scenes featurette
  • Effects featurette
  • Production design featurette
  • A "blood-and-guts montage"

A Blu-ray edition released the same day will contain all of those special features plus additional "Torture Factory Footage." The suggested retail of the standard DVD is $28.95, while the SRP of the Blu-ray disc is $38.96.

BBC Miniseries "Jekyll" on DVD

BBC Video told ShockTillYouDrop.com that the horror miniseries Jekyll will be released to DVD in America on September 18th. The two-disc set will contain over five hours worth of bonus material, including featurettes and a commentary track. Suggested retail price will be $29.98.

Written by Steven Moffatt (who wrote some of the creepier episodes of the new "Doctor Who"), the series follows Dr. Jackman (James Nesbitt), a resident of modern-day London, who is haunted by his vicious alter ego, Mr. Hyde (also Nesbitt). However, the two have agreed to a compromise -- they have a kind of time-share on Jackman's body and Hyde's actions are rigorously monitored with the latest in high-tech surveillance equipment. Fulci's "The Psychic" to Make DVD Debut

Severin Films will be releasing a DVD of Lucio Fulci's hard-to-find giallo The Psychic (1977) on October 30th, according to the company's official website. The disc will feature the full, uncut edit of the film in 16x9 anamorphic widescreen, as well as a never-before published interview with the director and additional interviews with the cast and crew. Also due for release on that date is the DVD debut of Fulci's sex comedy The Eroticist AKA The Senator Likes Women, which will include a Fulci interview and a featurette.

DVDs for "Hangover Square", "The Lodger", and "The Undying Monster"

Fox Home Video will be releasing three long-awaited 1940s horror-thrillers onto DVD in time for Halloween. According to Bloody-Disgusting.com, we can expect to see The Lodger (1944), Hangover Square (1944), and The Undying Monster (1942) on shelves around October 9th, 2007. Curiously, these films are being marketed with Vincent Price's name attached, although his connections to them are tenuous -- he appeared in none of them, but did narrate or perform in radio versions of the same stories. More Mario Bava Collected on DVD

In his Video Watchblog, Tim Lucas announced that Anchor Bay will be releasing The Mario Bava Collection Volume 2 on October 23rd, just in time for Halloween. This box will contain Baron Blood, Lisa and the Devil (and House of Exorcism, which is mutilated form of Lisa, with non-Bava scenes of satanic possession edited in), Roy Colt & Winchester Jack, Four Times That Night, Bay of Blood, and Five Dolls for an August Moon. Lucas has recorded commentaries for Baron Blood, Bay of Blood, and Lisa and the Devil (and reportedly did so over the course of a single night). House of Exorcism will feature the commentary by producer Alfredo Leone and star Elke Sommer that was first seen on Image's earlier release of the film. No word yet on any other special features. The set will have a suggested retail price of $49.97.
