"Alien vs Predator" Sequel In the Works

No, it's not your eyesight-you (maybe unfortunately) read that headline correctly. AVP 2 is probably happening. 20th Century Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman had this to say about the sequel:

"In the new ALIEN VS. PREDATOR, they will finally actually really come to our world…It's likely that we will bridge the gap, and the beginning of that will be setting it in our contemporary universe."(read more...)

Ash Gets Groovy in "Evil Dead: Regeneration" Video Game

So a new Evil Dead game has been announced. That makes this the third time Ash (from the housewares section of S-Mart) will fight a horde of Deadites. When I first saw the news, I thought, "Oh, that's pretty cool." What I didn't know, at the time, however, is that the game also allows Ash the pleasure of teaming up with a 3-foot tall Deadite in an attempt to put a stop to Dr.(read more...)

"Freddy vs. Jason 2" -- Maybe Yes, Maybe No

Yes, it just might. Rumor spouting machine and Freddy Krueger himself, Robert Englund, recently spoke to JoBlo.com about why Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash fell through, and what to expect in a future film incarnation featuring the two titular titans of terror. Englund hints at Michael Meyers entering the fray, but who knows if that will happen. To read the interview (which also brings up the topic of a possible "V" miniseries), simply click the following link: http://joblo.com/index.php?id=7389 .

"Halloween 9" May Have Screenwriter

The ninth entry in the Halloween franchise just might see the light of day. Novelist Nicholas Grabowsky (check out his website here: http://www.downwarden.com ) is currently in talks to write the film. According to Grabowsky's site and Creature-corner.com, "Nick is meeting with producers to write the next Michael Myers flick this summer. His ideas are innovative, and go well beyond the story into merchandising and offshoot novels.(read more...)

Review: Fall of the House of Usher (1960)

Fall of the House of Usher poster

In the early 1960s, low-budget filmmaker Roger Corman convinced American International Pictures to give him enough money to fund a movie based on Edgar Allan Poe's "Fall of the House of Usher." The film would be entirely in color, a first for AIP, and would also feature something unheard of for such a low budget studio: a star.

Review: Cannibal! The Musical (1996)

Cannibal the Musical

Trey Parker's ("South Park") Cannibal! The Musical is a western/horror/cannibal/comedy/musical. There are not many of those out there, folks. And certainly none so many that still manages to be a hilarious must-see despite its heavy, heavy flaws.(read more...)

Review: Vampyr (1932)

Vampyr poster

Carl Theodor Dreyer's experimental Vampyr is an exercise in audacity. Watching certain scenes in the film reminds one of shorts produced in university film classes that are full of daring, cunning, and innovation. However, unlike most of those novice films, a man many consider to be one of Europe's most underrated "great directors" directed Vampyr.(read more...)

Review: Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959)

Plan 9 from Outer Space poster

Plan 9 from Outer Space flies in the face of all conventional wisdom. How can a film this incompetently produced feel so good? Edward D. Wood, Jr. gives the world another truly great bad cinematic experience and it must be celebrated.

Flying saucers over Hollywood! People in panic! Yes, dear friends, aliens have rather indiscreetly shown themselves to the public, and they're fighting mad. Humanity is filled with morons and that makes Earth dangerous. In order to stop us from developing sun-exploding superweapons, the aliens reanimate three corpses as part of their ninth plan.(read more...)

Ash to Face Herbert West in Comic

There's been a couple Army of Darkness mini-series hitting comic stores within this past year which really have been not all that great due to the fact that they just kind of rehash famous dialouge and situations from the Evil Dead trilogy and bring not many new ideas to the table (and this is coming from someone who would buy and cherish a can of tuna if it had the Army of Darkness logo printed on it), but hopefully things will start to improve for the AoD comics, as t(read more...)
